Rasch's item analysis model for intelligence tests was examined using a 45‐item spiral omnibus intelligence test, administered to two samples of 608 and 874 subjects respectively. Five separate hypotheses were tested. Findings provide evidence for Rasch's claim that the difficulty level of items and ability level indices are independent of the sample on which they are based.
