The purpose of the following research was to verify the alleged differentiation in mental abilities reported by earlier factorists. Correlations for eight tests applied to boys and girls in grades 8 to 12 have been factorized by the method of principal axes and then rotated by the varimax method. Coefficients of similarity have also been calculated for the several groups. In general, the hypothesis of differentiation is confirmed; but in certain minor respects the results obtained seem to diverge appreciably from the conclusions reached by previous investigators.
