The relationship of two qualities of the attitude structure, namely self‐involvement and intention certainty, with the consistency of the attitude—intention, subjective norm‐intention and direct experience—intention relations was investigated. Self‐involvement exerted a moderating effect upon the direct experience—intention and the subjective norm—intention relations, but not on the attitude—intention relation. Although some earlier research used direct experience as an indicator of self‐involvement, it was shown that, as hypothesized, the two variables correlate only modestly. Certainty about intention was, as hypothesized, connected with higher consistency between intentions on the one hand and attitudes, subjective norms and direct experience on the other hand.
