The relationship between participation rate in groups and liking ratings was hypothesized to depend on the attraction to the group of the raters. This hypothesis was tested in an investigation in which 20 five‐person male groups worked on a discussion task. The results showed that the higher the attraction to the group, the more positive the relationship between participation rate and liking rating received.
