It is known that pain‐threshold values are considerably influenced by the stimulus scale‐interval used in their assessment (Haslam, 1965, 1968; Haslam & Thomas, 1967). As predicted, a significant positive correlation was found between the amount by which a subject's pain threshold was lowered by a small interval‐size and the extent of his field dependence as measured by the Embedded Figures Test (Witkin et al. , 1962).
