The present experiment investigated the effect of a visual disinhibitor (instead of an auditory stimulus as used by Rachman, 1962) on reminiscence in a human pursuit‐rotor task. Four groups of 10 subjects each took part. A control group was presented with no light flash during practice. Group E 1 was presented with the light flash early in a 5 min. practice period, group E 2 in the middle and group E 3 late in the practice period. The results indicate an adverse effect of disinhibitor on reminiscence, significantly marked when presented very late in the course of practice.
