An experiment is reported which confirms the difference in escape‐avoidance conditioning between rats of the two Maudsley selected strains. This finding constitutes a second in variance in the behaviour of these strains: the first, with which it is contrasted, related to differences in conditioned emotional responses. It is suggested that the two nevertheless indicate a consistent emotional responsiveness in these strains.
