S ummary . The Neale Analysis of Reading Ability, which is a popular measure of reading accuracy and comprehension skills, has recently been revised (1989). This paper outlines some shortcomings of the revised test. Form 2 of the test is systematically biased against boys, and suffers from an inappropriate gradation in question difficulty.
