S ummary . The perceptions of 4,353 teachers in 463 primary and secondary Catholic schools in the Australian state of Victoria about the special educational needs and additional educational requirements of 120,344 pupils are reported in this paper. One in eleven pupils in regular schools was perceived by teachers to be experiencing educational difficulties associated with traditional disability categories sufficient to require forms of additional educational assistance in order to more fully participate and succeed in the regular school programme.
