S ummary . A measure of inspection time and measures of primary abilities drawn from the Comprehensive Ability Battery (Hakstian and Cattell, 1976) were administered to 20 subjects, mostly undergraduates. Inspection time was shown to be related more to factors of perceptual speed and visualisation than to the primaries most associated with fluid or crystallised ability.
