S ummary . A survey carried out in 1963 of second‐year sixth formers from a random sample of 96 maintained grammar schools in England was replicated in 1970. The results show a marked decline in favourable attitudes towards religious education and in the importance of the Bible for these subjects. There was evidence of greater change among girls than among boys.
