S ummary . The present study is concerned with the relationships between creativity and intellectual ability of student teachers and ratings of their effectiveness by pupils who differ in social class and creativity. The results indicate that teachers who score high on indices of intellectual ability and creativity or low on both of these indices are rated more favourably by their pupils than teachers who score high on only one of these indices. Further, teachers who score high or low on both indices are rated more favourably by pupils high in creativity and high in social class.
