S ummary . One‐hundred‐and‐twenty‐seven children tested at a child guidance clinic were given a full scale WISC in the course of their examination. Prorated IQs were calculated from four of the ten sub‐tests (Arithmetic, Vocabulary, Picture Arrangement and Block Design). These prorated IQs correlated + 0·96 with full scale IQ and gave accurate indications of level of performance on the full scale. This shortened version is least suited for young children and children in the IQ range 70–89.
