The Miller Behavioral Style Scale is a measure of coping dispositions that has proved useful in clinical settings. However, it contains items out of the common run of everyday experience that some people find difficult to complete. This study involving student volunteers and patients with metastatic cancer indicates that elimination of these items does not seriously modify the pattern of individual differences shown with scores on the complete questionnaire.
