Autonomic arousal in an antenatal clinic and its association with recall of information about pregnancy

Pulse rates of 30 women attending an antenatal clinic were measured near the beginning and end of their visit. Mean pulse rate declined during the visit, and the difference was used as an index of autonomic arousal. Higher arousal was associated with poorer recall of information and advice about pregnancy.
