Experimental studies suggest that patients with presenile dementia have difficulty in retrieving information from long‐term memory and are aided differentially by cueing. The present study demonstrates, through a comparison of cued and recognition recall, that this suggestion also applies to patients with mild to moderate senile dementia. The implications of this finding are discussed.
