Preliminary data are reported regarding a Persian translation of the EPI (Form A). The test is found to have a satisfactory degree of reliability and validity in its new context. Iranian subjects, both normal and abnormal, are found to score significantly higher than their British counterparts on both N and L scales. The Extraversion scale is found to be virtually independent of the other two scales and, unlike them, is not affected by instructions to fake good or bad. The findings are discussed and interpreted in the light of other cross‐cultural findings with the Inventory.
