Three attitude scales were constructed on the hypothesis that attitudes to education might be partially represented by the dimensions of naturalism, radicalism and tendermindedness. The development of these scales and their administration to a representative sample of 300 teachers are described, and evidence of their reliability, validity and reproducibility is given. A factor analysis of items from the three scales was carried out. The extent to which this analysis supported the hypothesis of three independent dimensions is discussed.
