Summary Isolated equine blood and articular cells were investigated for proteolytic enzyme production by means of gel filtration and analysis on 14 C‐acetylated collagen and casein substrates. Significant amounts of collagenase and caseinase activity were produced by cultured synoviocytes stimulated with equine interleukin 1, although large amounts of collagenase also originated from neutrophils.
