Summary Dentigerous cysts have been described in most domestic species and man. Horses commonly present with a swelling over the temporal region and a draining tract along the proximal pinna. Dentigerous cysts are benign structures, but pose a cosmetic problem and are commonly removed by surgical excision at an early age. This case report describes a horse with a dentigerous cyst that contained 2 easily identifiable dental structures, radiographically and grossly resembling a permanent tooth and its deciduous precursor.
