James Gallagher is Professor of Science Education at Michigan State University and currently co‐editor of Journal of Research in Science Teaching . He was a member of the Working Group on Teaching in the formulation of National Science Education Standards . His recent work has included the me of continuous assessment as a tool to aid teachers in teaching for understanding.
