This paper calls for the integration of science and social studies curricula in elementary and secondary schools. An expected response to this call would be a charge of fadism or "here we go again." Teachers at all levels, beseiged with frequent requests to do more and do it well with fewer resources, are justified in approaching suggestions for curricular change with reason and caution. These increasing demands on teachers must not prevent us, however, from intelligent reflective thought concerning important curricular linkages for the future. The integration of science and social studies teaching, we believe, is one such promising direction.
