SUCCESS IN INNOVATING depends on both strategic commitment and effective management. Interestingly, in John G. Mathers' analysis, many firms put management practices in place without simultaneously developing the necessary strategic commitment. That commitment must be to personal, team, and organizational development, to oversight of the innovation planning and implementation processes, and to the regular re‐creation or renewal of the organization.
