IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN DIFFICULT to pinpoint the ideal relationship between the business of design and design education, a situation further complicated by the growing importance of high‐tech design tools. In an informal survey of influential design leaders, RitaSue Siegel elicits comments on topics ranging from students' understanding of the design process and the value of computer training to the employability of new graduates and the critical need for an expanded internship program.
