LIKE OTHER EXPERTS on the creative process, Alex DeDominicis is convinced that it is possible to nurture the environment and skills that result in innovation. On the other hand, he notes that organizations often overlook certain critical factors in their quest to stimulate creativity. Among the elements he discusses here, and believes cannot be ignored, are the issue of ownership, the balance between long‐ and short‐term goals, the individual/team relationship, and processes for rewarding and recognizing innovation.
