INA FIELD DOMINATED by aesthetic criticism, it is sometimes difficult to distinguish genuine innovation in architecture. Here, several recent and significant advances are highlighted. More than simply reciting a litany, however, Vonier articulates what constitutes architectural innovation, describes the environments that nurture this kind of creativity and outlines an agenda for future research and development.
