INNOVATION REPRESENTS both opportunity and risk. The challenge is to build an organizational environment that, on the one hand, stimulates creativity and, on the other, offers boundaries and guides development. Conflicts are inevitable, so Adams analyzes five factors in this balancing act – increased awareness of process; ideas; availability of resources; reward systems and organizational understanding – that are essential to a successful innovation strategy.
