— A 10.79‐kg layered tektite from Hainan is the largest tektite from China, and the fifth largest reported to date. It together with a 1.9‐kg Hainan tektite described by Yuan (1981) greatly extends the area of the Australasian field within which layered tektites having masses > 1 kg have been found.
