Mass‐spectrometric determinations of the inert gas release from samples of the Allende carbonaceous meteorite heated in the range 300°C to 1100°C, followed by Raman spectroscopic studies of the 1360 cm −1 and 1580 cm −1 bands of carbon support the hypothesis that the gas release at high temperatures is causally related with ordering of carbon .
