The fall of a stony meteorite in the State late in 1960, and its subsequent discovery in 1961, stimulated interest in meteoritics in this area. An advisory committee was set up to advise the trustees of the Museum of Western Australia on the valuable collections already held, and to encourage further discoveries. The results of this action have become evident in several important discoveries.
