Thru loose misquotations made some 25 years after the originally published facts in regard to the important shower of meteoritic dust that fell onto the ship Joshua Bates on November 14, 1856, the misconception has arisen that two such showers had been observed, the second in 1859. It is here shown that all of the references involved correspond to one and the same shower.
