ABSTRACT In this paper are given details concerning the discovery of an unusual irony‐stone meteorite near Weatherford, Custer County, Oklahoma (equatorial coördinate number (ECN) = +988,358). There is some evidence that the specimen recovered is only a fragment of a much larger mass, but neither visual nor instrumental searches have led to additional recoveries. Consequently, the mineralogical and chemical investigations have necessarily been based upon the examination of the single specimen so far discovered, that found by Mr. A. B. Potter in 1926. On the basis of these investigations, which are detailed in the paper proper, the meteorite has been classified as a siderolite of class sideraerolite (S) and subclass mesosiderite (Sms).
