This article illustrates how short contemporary literary texts dealing with social, historical, cultural, or political issues can be applied to the development of business language proficiency and cross‐cultural awareness within an international business curriculum. Literature portrays a specific culture and is a rich source of information from which the learner extracts knowledge. This interdisciplinary approach to Business Spanish instruction offers the students the opportunity to master a language and a culture within an international business context.
