Strengthening Foreign Language Teacher Preparation Through Teacher‐Supervisor Exchange

Recent national reports call for a reorganization of the teacher preparation process through closer collaboration between basic and higher education. This article describes how a university supervisor of Spanish and a cooperating high school Spanish teacher participated in a one‐week exchange of professional duties for the purpose of understanding each other's roles more fully. The results of the exchange prompted the redesign of the teacher preparation program to integrate the efforts of the university and school district in the development of foreign language teachers.
