The student monitor sheet provides the foreign language student with a guide that indicates suggested correct answers when communicative paired and group activities are being emphasized. One student functions as the monitor who accepts the responsibility for providing corrective input. With the consistent use of interactive practices, additional methods are necessary in order for both instructor and student to establish greater control over grammatical and lexical accuracy. This article includes a detailed study of the use of the student monitor in situations in which the goal is conceptual or partial control.
