  This paper describes use of a powerful commercial spreadsheet program, Lotus 1–2‐3, to design a computerized gradebook for foreign language classes. Reduction in teacher time spent on grade calculation, convenience of frequent and detailed feedback to students, enhanced accuracy, and efficiency are discussed as benefits ofcomputerized gradebooks.
