Since 1982, an unusual exchange program has involved graduate teaching assistants from Auburn University and prospective teachers from the Ecole Normale in Caen, France. Using student journals, questionnaires, interviews, and correspondence as sources of data, the authors discuss problems encountered, insights gained and benefits derived from the program.
