The author suggests a rationale for teaching negatives and partitives as a unit. She describes in detail three classroom activities that promote affective communication and focus on the use of negative and partitive constructions. The activities are designed to promote fluency, as they generate original responses, and they include material that lends itself to cultural comparisons. Students have received them enthusiastically.
