Since many second language teachers have computers in their classrooms, they want to be able to program or evaluate second language computer‐assisted instructional programs. This article contains practical suggestions for improving the educational aspect of CAI. It includes such areas as the use of title, instructions, error‐proofing responses, feedback, prompts, remediation, personalization, scorekeeping, and levels of difficulty.
