The writer conducted a survey of superintendents and high school principals in Georgia to determine the attitude of school administrators to foreign language study. The results of this study indicate that school administrators in Georgia in general have a relatively high opinion of foreign language study, both in high school and college, especially in the case of those individuals who have studied a language themselves. The findings suggest that foreign language teachers in Georgia need to capitalize on this relatively positive attitude and work with the administrators to reestablish foreign languages as a meaningful component of the high school (and elementary school) curriculum.
