The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of a cross‐cultural experience on the development of student attitudes and to identify the instrument scales which reflect shift in the Semantic Differential. Sixteen participants were involved in this study utilizing a one group, pretest‐posttest design. The statistical treatment for the data was the Wilcoxon Matched‐Pairs Signed Ranks Test and the t‐tests for related samples. The treatment consisted of a five‐week field experience emphasizing an interdisciplinary approach to observing and studying Mexico.
