The expansion of foreign investments in the United States has prompted the development of a new currriculum in Business French. The program, leading to a major, was developed in two phases and prepares for the Diplôme de Français commercial offered by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Paris (CCIP). The functions and resources of the CCIP are explained as well as the curriculum leading to the examination, which is held at many European centers and, since January 1977, at Eastern Michigan University. The author outlines the parts of the written and oral examinations as well as the grading system employed. A similarly oriented high school course could motivate students to acquire a skill marketable in the United States and abroad.
