Reading literary texts for comprehension in a foreign language is a problem facing many teachers. This article deals with an experimental approach to reading in which the assigned text was supplemented by tapes and mimeographed sheets to provide a multi‐skill format. In a classroom situation, it was found that the experiment helped students to comprehend better and appreciate the story, while at the same time enriching their vocabulary and improving their listening comprehension.
