This paper focuses on the effects of the cultural environment, as reflected in individual and collective value orientations, on management practices. The practices of planning, organizing, leading and controlling, along with some of the organizational social processes, were compared. Used in the comparison were Western societies which were mainly used to represent the individualistic orientation, and Japan, Yugoslavia, and the Kibbutz to represent the collectivistic orientation. The relationship between the type of relational orientation and organizational effectiveness is discussed . Résumé Cette étude traite des effets de l'environnement culturel sur les décisions de gestion telles qu'elles se reflètent dans l'orientation vers des valeurs individuelles et collectives. Les processus de planification, d'organisation, de direction et de contrǒle, de m#oCme que quelques uns des processus sociaux organisationnels ont été comparés. Des sociétés occidentales surtout, ont été utilisées pour représenter un orientation individualiste. Lejapon, la Yougoslavie et le Kibboutz représentent une orientation plus collectiviste. La relation existant entre le type d'orientation relationnelle et l'efficacité organisationnelle est discutée.
