This paper offers insights into developments in the practice of performance measurement and management through examination of three case studies. Analysis of the cases suggests a clear distinction between performance measurement and management. It clarifies the usefulness of implementing broad‐based performance measurement frameworks, and the criticality of organisational culture to effective performance management.
