A review spanning the years 1966–1986 has been made of the bacteria isolated from pyogenic dental infections and their antibiotic sensitivity patterns. Changes in the type of bacteria isolated from these infections and their antibiotic sensitivities have been identified. Antibiotic regimens aimed at reducing the emergence of antibiotic resistant bacteria have been suggested.
