A clinical study was undertaken to review the pulpal status of anterior teeth restored with composite resins over a period of up to six years. No clinically detectable pulp necrosis was observed irrespective of type of resin, cavity depth or duration of restoration placement. The study indicated that calcium hydroxide linings are unnecessary except in very deep cavities.
