A postal survey of general practitioner dentists in Victoria revealed that approximately 30 per cent carried out only simple endodontic therapy in anterior teeth; and 52 per cent used a sterile approach in that they used rubber dam and sterile instruments. Most respondents filled the root canal using a master cone technique. It is suggested that action be taken to interest the 30 per cent of the dentist population mentioned above in carrying out endodontics in posterior teeth.
