A survey of adult dental health and attitudes to dental care was undertaken in the Brisbane Statistical Division in May‐June 1984. Using examiners and recorders from the Division of Dental Services Queensland Department of Health, and from members of the Australian Dental Association Queensland Branch, 1504 clinical examinations were carried out and a further 187 subjects (1691 in all) completed the sociological questionnaire. All age groups 15 years and above were included in the subject sample.
