Prosthetic management of patients after maxillofacial surgery to restore physiologic functions and promote recovery is emphasized. A case is presented to illustrate the use of a tissue conditioner as the obturator bulb. Its merits are highlighted and its use to obturate surgical defects is advocated. The disadvantages of other conventional materials which have been employed are discussed.
